Do you imagine to live without water having the solution on your own hands? Since 2016 Bark Beetles, illegal logging & fires have caused a loss of 5,000 hectares. Besides soil degradation, the affection includes the reduction of consumption water for 3.5 million habitants near “La Malinche” mountain in Mexico (States Tlaxcala & Puebla).
This problem goes beyond the authorities and far from blaming them, we know that the solution lies in the community and in alliances with companies and organizations.
For this reason, in 2020 we began to organize ourselves and get to work. In just 2 years we managed to become the most relevant group with the best results. We included in our project organizations such as Rotary International, 3 Educational Institutions, some companies, +20 ambiental Doctors & students, 2,500 volunteers from 17 communities (2,500 volunteers) to replant 50,000 little trees in +60 Has, +34 land owners, create a nursery with capacity of 5,000 trees, and the commitment to continue our work for years.
For 2023 we seek to Scale and Professionalize the efforts we have already made to reforest “La Malinche” National Park. We seek to finally have a budget to work and raise our voices in the media so that our results are seen and more institutions join us in order to promote results for 2023.
Plans:
– Create a sustainable model that can be replicated year after year and in other regions
– Double the number of trees (40,000)
– Create more Certification programs for committed volunteers
– Create support and training programs for the community
– Create Company Participation programs
– Create Communication and Marketing programs
– Create Donation programs to support the movement
– Have more professional tools for irrigation and reforestation
– Formalize and grow our tree nursery
